Mandamus: High Court orders EC to collate, declare results in Tema Central, 3 other Constituencies by Jan 6

Accra, Jan 4, GNA – An Accra High Court has ordered the Electoral Commission to collate two outstanding results in the Tema Central Constituency and declare results by January 6, 2025.

The Inspector General of Police has also been ordered to provide adequate security at the Regional Collation Centre.

The declaration of the results collated in all the 148 Polling Stations should be done by a Returning Officer, the Court ordered.

This was after the court granted a mandamus application brought against the Commission to collate Parliamentary results in the Constituency.

The Court noted that 146 out of the 148 Polling Stations were collated and Ebi Bright was declared winner of the Tema Central Constituency.

According to the Court, the declaration was also not done by the assigned Returning Officer as required by law.
