Let’s reconcile in rebuilding the NPP-Former Wenchi Youth Organiser

Wenchi, (Bono), Jan. 6, GNA – A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region has called for reconciliation towards rebuilding the party.

Mr Richard Kwadwo Adu, a former Wenchi Youth Organiser of the NPP who made the call urged the leadership of the party to forgive offences and call-back all members and supporters who were sacked for various misconducts.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the performance of the NPP in the Election 2024 and the way forward, he said the party also required general overhauling of the executives at the national, regional and constituency levels too.

“The NPP must initiate reconciliation action to call back and restore loyal members like Paul Afoko, a former national chairman and Otiko Afisa Djaba, a former women’s organiser and the likes,” he stated.

Mr Adu said “we can bounce back strong if we forgive each other and see ourselves as a strong elephant family, as we used to be. If we continue to habour offences, then our reconstruction will never yield the required results”.

“Some sanctions imposed on some of our loyal and founding members were too much. In fact, if there is the need for us to amend our constitution, then that is better to keep our loyal members”.

Mr Adu admitted that the conduct exhibited by some of the members of the party breached the NPP constitution however sacking some of them for their various misconducts would always not augur well for the growth and development of the party.

“As a party, we are in a trailing moment now and we must sit down, think, and reflect on some decisions we took. We must also come together, identify and tackle some internal challenges too,” he stated.

Mr Adu also commented on the voter-apathy on the part of some NPP members in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections and called on the party leadership to always listen to, prioritize and always address emerging concerns that emanated from the party people at the grassroots levels.

As the pillars of the NPP, Mr Adu indicated that the various constituencies, electoral area, and polling station executives ought to be strengthened and provided with the required logistics and financial support. “We must not let them, until election years.

The party offices at the grassroots level must function effectively to make the NPP attractive while we are in opposition now,” he added.
