Kadjebi residents in high expectation from Mahama-led government

Kadjebi (O/R), Jan. 09, GNA – Some residents of Kadjebi in the Oti Region have expressed high expectations from the President John Dramani Mahama-led government.

They said his proposed “24-Hour Economy,” Women’s Bank, and Mahama Care Health policies among other campaign promises, if implemented were expected to improve their living standards.

They disclosed these, when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) went around the Kadjebi township to seek resident’s expectation from the new government.

Mr Jacob Yaw Atteh Boateng, a 70-year-old Shoemaker, engaging with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the Mahama Care Health policy, a comprehensive healthcare initiative proposed by President John Mahama, aimed to improve quality healthcare services to all Ghanaians, particularly those living in rural settings and underserved areas.

He said if implemented it would be of immense benefit to his family and that of others.

He further lauded the proposed establishment of the Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund (MAHAMACARES) to support the cost of healthcare for individuals with chronic diseases, such as kidney failure, cancers, sickle cell diseases, diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases, and hoped it would come to fruition.

Miss Hilda Akoto, a 20-year-old Senior High School Graduate and Cosmetics Seller, told the GNA that she was happy to hear of the Women’s Bank proposal by the then NDC Flagbearer, which aimed to economically empower women in Ghana by providing tailored financial products and services and of the high expectation that this proposal became a reality.

She said financial challenges faced by women entrepreneurs was enormous and that the financial support from this Bank would be great help.

Naana Fuseini, a Foodstuff Seller resident told GNA that the proposed establishment of the Women’s Bank which was expected to enhance access to credit, promote financial literacy, and encourage savings among women was laudable and hoped to see its implementation to the fullest.

She said the present situation where some of them had to fall on loan facilities with exorbitant interest rate was unsustainable and that the Bank’s support would a Saviour to them.
