Accra, Jan. 8, GNA – The rate of inflation rose for fourth consecutive times to 23.8 per cent in December up from 23 per cent the previous month, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) said on Wednesday.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December 2024 stood at 248.3, indicating a 23 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Month-on-month inflation between November and December 2024 was recorded at 1.8 percent.
Food inflation remained a significant driver, reaching 27.8 percent in December, representing a 2.8 percent month-on-month increase.
Non-food inflation, at 20.3 percent, showed a more moderate increase of 0.9 percent compared to the previous month.
The GSS highlighted a notable disparity between locally produced and imported items.
Inflation for locally produced items reached 26.4 percent in December, while inflation for imported items stood at 17.9 percent.
