Accra, Jan 03, GNA – Ghana’s Parliament passed the Environmental Protection Bill, marking a new chapter in the country’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
The Bill, which received overwhelming support from both sides of the House, aims to address pressing environmental issues and promote sustainable development across the nation.
The Environmental Protection Bill would provide stricter regulations on industrial emissions, waste management, and deforestation.
It would also outline measures to promote renewable energy sources and encourage eco-friendly practices among businesses and individuals.
The Second Deputy Speaker, Mr. Andrew Asiamah Amoako, who was presiding over proceedings at the time announced the passage after it was read for the third time.
This was when the Motion was moved by the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Madam Ophelia Mensah Hayford.
The passage of the Environmental Protection Bill is a significant step towards protecting Ghana’s natural resources and ensuring a healthier environment for future generations.
With this legislation in place, the nation is poised to make significant strides in promoting sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
