Adidome (V/R), Jan. 06 GNA – Mr Confidence Abotsi, former Central Tongu Constituency Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated President-Elect John Dramani Mahama and the newly elected NDC Members of Parliament on their resounding victory.
Mr. Abotsi, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed his optimism that the NDC’s plans, which were communicated to the voters would transform the lives of Ghanaians if properly implemented.
He highlighted several initiatives, including the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank, a National Apprenticeship Program, and job creation through ‘Adwumawura’ (Dortor) and 24-hour Economy agenda.
Mr Abotsi who is also a member of the Employment and Job Creation Committee of the party believed these initiatives had immense potential to transform the economy and improve the well-being of Ghanaians.
He also noted that President-Elect Mahama had a proven record of accomplishment of job creation, citing the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) initiative.
“I remember YES because I was deeply involved as a volunteer and constituency chairman at the time, in getting YES to the grassroots in Central Tongu. As a result of our efforts and orientation for YES, several people benefited and they have livelihoods to date,” Abotsi said.
He expressed confidence that Mahama would deliver on his promises, including converting the Adidome Farm Institute into a Veterinary College and utilizing the Volta River for agricultural purposes.
He urged the President-Elect and NDC MPs to work hard to realize their electoral promises, emphasizing that the youth, market women, and informal sector need support.
“We promised the people of Central Tongu a Women’s Development Bank; we told them there is a plan for 24HrE and NAP. We carried these messages to the nook and cranny of the constituency. We cannot fail on these. They are too good to be failed initiatives,” Abotsi said.
He however urged Ghanaians to be patient and give the new administration time to implement its plans.
