Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has released the 2025 Trade Licence Plates (DV plate) to its operational offices nationwide.

The DV plate has been embedded with enhanced security features, as part of the Authority’s efforts to ensure vehicle registration and licensing in the country.

A statement issued by the Management of the DVLA said the enhanced security features include holograms, watermarks, and QR code.

It said the new features were designed to prevent counterfeiting and ensure the authenticity of the plates.

DV, an acronym for defective vehicles, are temporary license plates issued to specific car owners for quick activities involving their automobiles. The DV plate is only valid for a year.

Mr Julius Neequaye Kotey, Chief Executive Officer, DVLA, said the 2025 DV plate was a significant improvement in vehicle registration and licensing in Ghana.

“The new plate demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to leverage on technology to enhance security and convenience for its customers,” he added.

The DVLA said it was working with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service to apprehend anybody who uses or engages in the trade of counterfeit DV plate.

“The 2025 DV plate will be available at all DVLA offices nationwide starting today, 30th January 2025. Vehicle owners, automobile dealers, distributors, freight forwarders and agents can acquire the plate at any of our operational offices across the country,” the statement said.
