Dr. Paul Fynn honoured by President Akufo-Addo for stellar contribution in media, education

Accra, Jan 5, GNA – Dr Paul Kofi Fynn, Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College, has been honoured with a Grand Medal Award for his outstanding contributions in media and education.   

The honour is in recognition of his visionary leadership, which has transformed Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, into one of the nation’s most respected tertiary institutions.   

The Chancellor was part of several astute Ghanaians, who were recognized by President Akufo-Addo for their selfless and dedicated service to the nation at the prestigious 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Center on December 30, 2024.   

Under Dr Kofi Fynn’s stewardship, the Wisconsin International University College, had made significant strides in innovation, academic excellence, and community development and the award had come in a year of remarkable achievements for Dr. Fynn and the institution.  

Dr Fynn was also celebrated in 2024 with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Ghana and an Honorary Doctorate conferred on him by the Iringa University in Tanzania, solidifying his legacy as a trailblazer in education and leadership.  

The institution also won the Ghana Business Award for Best Education Institution and the Cybersecurity Authority Award for Best Institutional Collaboration.  

The prestigious 2024 National Honours and Awards ceremony brought together a host of dignitaries, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, Ministers of State, and other high-ranking government officials.   

Vice President Dr. Bawumia, in particular, received the nation’s highest honour, the Order of the Star of Ghana, underscoring the high-profile nature of the event.  

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Fynn expressed his gratitude to the President and people of Ghana for the recognition and dedicated the award to the staff, students, and alumni of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana.  

He said their collective efforts had brought the institution to the pinnacle of excellence.
