Accra, Jan. 2, GNA – Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorogo, Commissioner of Customs Division Ghana Revenue Authority, has called on officers to perform their duties creditably to leave marks worthy of emulation by peers.
Speaking at the pull-out ceremony of Assistant Commissioner Alfred Lirase Apio, Brigadier General Ayorogo lauded Apio’s leadership and contributions to the growth of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
“Indeed Mr Apio has made an incredible mark on the customs division and the nation as a whole. His career stands out as a peak of commitment, diligence and excellence,” he said.
Mr Apio served the Ghana Revenue Authority for 35 years in various capacities and retired as the Sector Commander of Kotoka International Airport Collection.
Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorogo said Apio’s contributions in each of these roles had been devoted to the discharge of his duties to the fullest.
“For his pioneering effort at the Customs Technical Services Bureau, he has played an instrumental role in enhancing classification, evaluation and the rules of origin. His efforts have not only advanced the operational capacity of the customs division but have also set a strong foundation for future growth and excellence,” he said.
He said as a sector commander at the Kotoka International Airport Collection, Mr Apio demonstrated exemplary leadership and innovation and under his guidance, the Collection exceeded revenue targets for three consecutive years despite the challenges.
“These successes reflect his strategic thinking, hard work and engagement with excellence. We express our deepest gratitude for his exemplary contribution to Ghana’s revenue authority. He has been a shining example of discipline, integrity and selflessness. These qualities have inspired all those who had the opportunity to work with him,” the Commissioner added.
Mr Apio, in his address, said his achievements as a sector commander were on the back of logistical challenges and low staff numbers.
“I am proud of the accomplishments I have achieved, and the positive impact I have made. My work has not only contributed to the country’s economic development but also helped to safeguard national security,” he said.
Mr Apio urged his colleagues to remain steadfast to the ideals of fairness, integrity, responsibility and service and thanked them for the support he had received in the accomplishment of his assignment.
