Sunyani, (Bono), Jan. 2, GNA – Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, has urged Ghanaians to cooperate and support the President-elect John Dramani Mahama’s government to facilitate the progressive development of the nation.

She asked political parties to bury their affiliations, emphasising the relevance of unity, peace and social cohesion in the pursuit of progress, saying partisan interests would only slow down holistic national development.

Madam Owusu-Banahene gave the advice when she interacted with a section of the media at a party in Sunyani.

She commended the chiefs and people of the region for the high sense of political maturity and civility they exhibited in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

She emphasised that the Election 2024 was successfully and peacefully conducted in the region because of the cooperation and political tolerance exhibited by the people of the region.

“The peaceful conduct of the elections is a shining example of the region’s commitment to strengthening democratic principles”, she stated at an end of year party she organised for the media in Sunyani.

Madam Owusu-Banahene called for unity, saying now that the elections were over, there was the need for the people to come together and advance the progressive development of the region.

She also acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of the Electoral Commission, security services and all the stakeholders for the success of the General Election, urging the people to prioritise and promote peace and social cohesion.

“The region’s prosperity and development depend on all of us, and we must strive to maintain and strengthen the prevailing peace of the region too”, the Regional Minister stated.

Madam Owusu-Banahene said she was deeply grateful to the people of the region for their unflinching support and cooperation throughout the year and urged them to remain committed to the values of peace and unity.

“Let us continue to work together, regardless of our political affiliations building a progressive nation for all”, the Regional Minister advised.
