Takoradi, Jan. 8, GNA – The Most Reverend John Baptist Attakruh, the Bishop of the Sekondi-Takoradi Catholic Diocese, has praised women and mothers for their unrelenting roles in ensuring the growth and development of the Catholic Church.

He said their dedication and commitment to the growth of the Church could not be overstated, and that their efforts deserved commendation.

Bishop Attakruh was speaking at the climax of a four-day annual conference of the Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Sekondi-Takoradi diocese at Half Assini in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.

The four -day conference was on the theme: “65 years of Catholic presence: The role of the Catholic woman”, was attended by more than five hundred members drawn from all the 10 deaneries in the diocese.

The conference allowed the women to take stock of the activities of the association and the way forward, held prayer sessions, embarked on float through the streets, as well as special programmes to remember its deceased members.

There was also a talk on the effects of Domestic Violence and Drug abuse.

Most Rev Attakruh, touching on the theme, said without the hard work and dedication of women, the Church would not have been able to expand its presence across the country and world at large.

He said: “The Church’s growth and strength lie upon your unwavering devotion to the work of God, and so I stand here today to congratulate and commend you for all that you do for the church.”

The bishop prayed for God to grant them both physical and spiritual strength to enable them to continue giving off their best to entrench the presence of the Catholic Church globally.

Most Rev Attakruh also asked them to have renewed hope in God to grant unto them all the heart desires for this year.

“It is time to dream big and hope for all the good things that our lives may blossom with peace, love and joy in the Lord,” he added.

Bishop Attakruh reminded them of the Jubilee year celebration launched recently and encouraged them to embark on pilgrimages to either the Lady of Fatima Grotto at Nawule or Lady of Loudes Grotto at Egyam to pray with their families and friends.
