Political activist Oliver Barker-Vormowor has rendered an unqualified apology to the Appointments Committee of Parliament over a bribery allegation against the chair of the Committee and its members on a social media post.
The subject, through his Counsel, said the other statement was not authored by Barker-Vormowor.
Mr Nana Ato Dadzie, the Lead Counsel for Mr Oliver Barker-Vormowor, has admitted that he [Barker-Vormowor] authored the statement: “So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic”, on his social media page and is prepared to withdraw it and apologise.
Accra, Jan 29, GNA – Mr Oliver Barker-Vormowor, a political activist, has arrived at the Committee Room of Parliament House after being summoned over allegations of bribery he made against Mr Bernard Ahiafor, the Chairman of Parliament’s Appointments Committee and members.
Mr Barker-Vormowor, wearing a Tan suit with a white shirt under and matching spectacles, looked confident.
He is fidgetting with his mobile phone as though sending a text message or responding to messages as he awaits members of the Committee.
On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Mr Ahiafor raised the bribery allegations made by Mr Barker-Vormowor on his social media handles before vetting commenced.
He, therefore, directed the Clerk to the Committee to summon Mr Barker-Vormowor to appear before it to substantiate the bribery allegations.
