AWEP hails first female Vice-President  

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA – The African Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme (AWEP) Ghana, has extended its felicitation to Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for emerging Ghana’s first female vice-president.  

The achievement was a significant milestone towards gender equality and empowerment, it said.  

A statement signed by Ms Bernice Abbeyquaye, President, AWEP Ghana, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday said the Vice-President’s achievement was a testament to her exceptional leadership and commitment to public service.  

“On behalf of AWEP Ghana, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on her historic election as the first female Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana,” it said.  

“This groundbreaking achievement is a testament to her exceptional leadership, dedication and commitment to public service.”   

“The achievement was proof that the highest offices were within the reach of those who dared to lead with integrity and vision.”  

AWEP expressed confidence that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s tenure would champion causes that mattered deeply to women of all shades.  

“We trust her leadership will amplify the voices of women and address the structural barriers that have historically limited their full participation in economic development that brings results,” the statement said. 

AWEP said it looked forward to working closely with the Vice-President to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainable development for women businesses.
