Agortorme (V/R), Jan. 1, GNA – Hundreds of energetic youth from Agortorme in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region marked the New Year with a mega health walk, bringing life and vibrancy to the streets.
The event, held on the morning of Wednesday, January 1, was organised in collaboration with the youth of Afuta, also in the Municipality.
Torgbui Tsifokpe III, the Chief of Afuta, commended the youth for coming together to promote health and unity.
He encouraged them to continue engaging in positive activities while observing safety during the festivities.
“I fully support any positive initiatives you undertake, but I urge you to celebrate responsibly and avoid getting into trouble,” Torgbui advised.
The walk saw various youth groups in the area, including the notable ABC Brothers and the Kings and Queens Cottage, participating.
The camaraderie among the youth was palpable, filling the air with chants, songs, and laughter.
Mr Freedom Lavoe Zigatoe, Chairman of Kings and Queens Cottage, described the walk as a resounding success.
“This event showcases the unity among our youth. I am optimistic that future events will be even bigger and better,” he said.
One of the organisers, Christian Ocloo, popularly known as Coachito, expressed gratitude to all who participated in the event.
“The turnout was amazing, and I am proud of what we have achieved together. This sets the tone for more collaborative activities in the future,” he noted.
Contests such as sack races and lime-in-spoon were held after the health walk to foster community spirit.
The walk and subsequent activities have set a positive precedent for community engagement in Agortorme, leaving participants eager for more initiatives in the months to come.
