Tema, Jan. 07, GNA -The Afro-Continental Union Consult (ACUC), an African think tank on good governance, has commended President John Dramani Mahama’s selection of administrative team members.

The President ahead of his inauguration, announced his team, comprising Mr Julius Debrah as Chief of Staff; Dr Callistus Mahama, Executive Secretary to the President; Mr Prosper Douglas Bani, Head of Interim Security Taskforce; Dr Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor, Governmental Affairs, Mr Augustus Goosie Tanoh, Presidential Advisor Responsible for 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development; Madam Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew, Legal Counsel to the President, Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President.

Reacting to the appointments, Dr Benjamin Ayagre Aziginaateeg, the Chief Executive Officer of the ACUC, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the appointment was an expression of hope in a new administration.

Dr. Aziginaateeg noted that the richness of the appointment indicated a carefully critical search for a team that could supplement President John Dramani Mahama’s purposeful vision.

“This excellent selection can also be suggested to have hinged on the seriousness of the 12th Constitutional Administration of Ghana since political independence. The imposed trust should therefore be streamed on the positive outcomes of their work to help model the Ghana that we want,” he added.

According to the ACUC, the integrity of these individuals has been proven over the years in previous governments, and they are in the best position to satisfy the anxiousness of Ghanaians looking for good governance and the best of responsive service delivery from the new administration devoid of frustrating bureaucratic hurdles based on best practices.

He stated that “the leggings for the reset of Ghana have earnestly begun with this appointment, hopefully to transform people’s lives in dire search for economic freedom and well-being.”

He, however, noted the sustainability of Ghana’s democracy depends on the output of President Mahama’s administration, adding that the democratic narratives in Ghana, with the implementation of the 1992 Constitution, were subject to a critical review to meet the times.

The ACUC also congratulated Mr. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for being nominated as Speaker of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, expressing the hope that Parliament would work conscientiously to the required expectations of the Ghanaian citizens to drive home people-centred laws.
