Accra, Jan.9, GNA – ActionAid Ghana (AAG) has extended its congratulations to Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on her historic inauguration as Ghana’s first female vice president.
In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), AAG described Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s achievement as a significant milestone in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
“We resolutely stand with like-minded stakeholders in celebrating Her Excellency Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman’s historic election as the first female Vice-President of Ghana.
“This achievement marks a defining moment in the Fourth Republic of Ghana, and we extend our strongest commendations upon her assumption of this pivotal role,” the AAG said.
The AAG said that the Vice-President’s achievement was a significant step forward for women’s representation in Ghana and served as a testament to the country’s ongoing commitment to feminist leadership and gender equality.
It expressed confidence that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s leadership would not only inspire but also empower women and girls, boost their confidence to engage in governance and advocate for improved dignity and quality of life.
The AAG also expressed joy at Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s message in her victory speech about keeping the door open for other women.
It said this underscored their belief that she would prioritize the rights of women and girls in government policies and contribute to strengthening Ghana’s democratic values and promoting social justice.
The AAG also applauded the newly elected female Members of Parliament for their victories.
