Yendi Peace Centre supports 108 women with vocational equipment

Yendi, Dec. 21, GNA-The Yendi Peace Centre of the Yendi Catholic Diocese has supported 108 women from Yendi municipality with vocational equipment totalling Euro 46,000.  

The support also included one year training in vocation skills and monthly allowances.  

Some of the equipment included new silver cooking set, baking ovens, hairdryers, sewing machines, weaving machines, tables, baking machines, local juice makers, freezers, hair dressing equipment, and food vendoring equipment.  

Friends from Germany supported the Centre with the funds for the project.  

Reverend (Rev) Bishop Matthew Yitiereh Bishop of Yendi who is also chairman of Northern Region Peace Council who presented the equipment to the women said it was through the hard work of the Centre that attracted their friends of Germany to support the programme.  

He reminded them that the Centre was not only working to sustain peace in the area, but also to support people to acquire vocational skills for their living.  

The Bishop said the Centre’s work was beyond Peace activities adding that the training was not for only Christians but also for non-Christians who also benefited from it.  

Rev. Fr. Michael Cobb, Executive Director of the Centre expressed appreciation to their friends from Germany who donated the funds to the Centre and made the training of the women vocational skills possible and also thanked all those who were involved in the training of the women.  

In their appreciation Mrs. Kofi Kumah Lucy one of the Trainers thanked the members of the Centre for assisting them to train the women to improve their living.   

Miss Nablegmado Joanna of Kuboni said she was trained in bread baking and book keeping and was advised to open accounts with the banks and save part of her income.   

She on behalf of her colleagues thanked Bishop Matthew Yitiereh, and Rev. Fr. Michael Cobb (PhD) and their friends from Germany for funding to make the training possible.
