Accra, Dec. 4, GNA – The rate of inflation rose to 23.0 per cent year-on-year in November from 22.1 per cent in October, the Ghana Statistical Service said on Wednesday.
This means that in the month of November 2024 the general price level was 23.0 per cent higher than November 2023.
Month-on-month inflation between October and November 2024 was 2.6 per cent.
Professor Samuel Annim, the Government Statistician at a press briefing, said the Consumer Price Index for November 2024 was 243.9 relative to 198.2 for November 2023.
He said food inflation was 25.9 per cent compared to last month’s food inflation of 22.8 per cent with the month-on-month food inflation being 3.8 per cent.
Meanwhile, non-food inflation was 20.7 per cent, compared to last month’s non-food inflation of 21.5 per cent with the month-on-month being 1.4 per cent.
Inflation for imported items was 17.6 per cent compared to that for locally produced items, which was 25.4 per cent.
On regional Inflation basis, the Upper East Region maintained its records as the region with the highest inflation rate of 44.9 per cent with the Eastern Region with 18.3 per cent as the lowest regional inflation.
