Women urged to take charge of their future at 3rd Girl Getup Africa Semina

Accra, Dec. 9, GNA – The third annual Girl Getup Africa seminar has been held at the Accra City Hall with massive participation from young women, who were encouraged to take charge of their future. 
 
The event, coordinated by media personality Sweety Aborchie and on the theme: “Girl, Become Your Own Boss,” served as a rallying cry for women to embrace business, independence, and intentional living. 
 
The day began with an exhilarating keynote address by Madam Janet Sunkwa-Mills, a leader in Ghana’s business landscape. 
 
She encouraged women to tap into their inner strength and strive for perfection, saying, “Your potential is limitless—if you commit to your vision, you can achieve the extraordinary.” 
 
Clinical Psychologist Petrina Adusei and Counselling Psychologist Adwoa Fosu led a panel discussion on mental health, which was a highlight of the conference.  

Their views provided clarity and methods for addressing commonly neglected issues. 
 
Ms. Angela Appiah, an attendee of the seminar, stated, “I now realise I am not alone.” These are serious issues, and now I feel heard and supported. The dialogue session from these experts has enlighten me on how to deal with issues regarding how to make my business thrive.” 
 
Naa Dedei-Botchway, a beauty queen and digital marketing specialist, presented her personal experience and emphasised the value of self-care and resilience. 
 
Founder of the seminar, Sweety Aborchie recalled her personal journey from poverty to become a strong media voice and advocate for women’s empowerment in one of the event’s most moving moments. 
 

Aborchie’s genuine, heartfelt insights on perseverance and purpose powerfully impacted the audience, emphasising the idea that greatness can be achieved through hard effort and conviction in oneself. 
 
She stated, “This is more than a seminar; it’s a movement to reshape how young women see themselves and their futures.” 
 
By the end of the day, attendees left with more than inspiration—they gained tools, insights, and a renewed belief in their potential to succeed. 
 
The 2024 Girl Getup Africa Seminar was a resounding success, reinforcing the organization’s mission to empower women to dream big, act boldly, and own their narratives.
