Ajumako (C/R), Dec. 09, GNA – Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the retained Member of Parliament (MP) for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Minority Leader, has assured that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will use its overwhelming majority in the next Parliament to advance the interest of Ghanaians.
He said they would not use it for their own benefit.
Having won the presidential election with more than 180 seats in Parliament, he said the incoming NDC government would get to work immediately to reset the country.
He recounted how the party had learnt its lessons from the past and pledged that they would not let Ghanaians down.
“So far, I’m aware we in the NDC will have an absolute majority in Parliament. We have won, at least, 180 seats so far.
“I want to assure everybody that we will use this majority in Parliament to benefit the people of Ghana and not to benefit ourselves, he said.
“The people of Ghana have spoken and the message is clear and now we know that Ghanaians were not happy with the governance of the outgoing government, whom I’m sure have also learned their lessons,” he added.
Dr Forson gave the assurance when he delivered a brief victory speech after he was declared the MP- elect for the constituency in the 2024 parliamentary election.
He polled 40,478 of the 59,209 total votes cast to beat his sole contender, Mr Rashid Kwesi Entuaful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 18,251 votes.
The Minority Leader won in 171 out of the 174 polling stations in the constituency, to represent the constituency for the fifth consecutive time.
He thanked the constituents for the trust reposed in him to represent again and pledged his commitment to advancing their interests.
“I want to assure the people of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam that I will give you an excellent representation; nothing more, nothing less,”he emphasised.
He commended the officers of the Electoral Commission and the security officials for discharging their duties diligently to ensure a peaceful, free and fair exercise.
