Updates: President-elect John Mahama delivers victory speech

Accra, Dec 9, GNA – The President-elect John Mahama delivered a victory speech Monday night, urging citizens to see his victory as one for every Ghanaian.

He delivered the speech a few hours after the Electoral Commission declared him winner of the December 7 presidential election with 56.55 percent of valid votes cast.

“Every victory is a victory for all of the people, the President-elect said.


“Let us be brief in our celebration, for the weight of office will be an onerous one. Expectations of Ghanaians are very high and we cannot afford to fail them.” – President-elect John Dramani Mahama.


President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo called me a while ago to congratulate me on my victory in the December 7, General Election – President-Elect John Dramani Mahama.


“And as we journey together, we need to realize that we have to move forward also together.” – Vice President-elect Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.


“The victory is for all of us, but especially for our daughters, for our youth, for our women.” – Vice President-elect Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
