Accra, Dec 1, GNA – Madam Mary Narrita Logah, Deputy National Women’s Organizer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has described the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) policies on Women’s transformation as the best so far, resonating with the reality of women in Ghana.
“We think that the NDC’s manifesto promise to establish a Women’s bank, will be a game changer to improve Women’s access to loans and capacity to pay back without any impediments.”
Speaking in an interview with the GNA Gender-Desk, the women’s organizer therefore, appealed to all members of the PNC to rally behind former president Mahama, to come to power on December 7.
She said the NDC had a lot in common with the PNC and “ a vote for NDC is a vote reflecting the aspirations of the PNC to transform women’s businesses and economic empowerment.”
She observed that the fact that the NDC had a female running mate was a testament to its commitment towards Women’s empowerment and implementation of the Affirmative Action and Gender Equity law when voted to power.
The Deputy women’s organizer appealed to the women’s constituency in the PNC especially, to throw their weight behind the NDC by voting massively for former President Mahama and for NDC Parliamentary candidates in areas where the PNC did not field a candidate.
She made a passionate appeal to women across all the political divide to look beyond party affiliations and vote massively for the four female parliamentary candidates contesting on the PNC ‘s ticket.
Ahead of the December 7 polls, the PNC had declared its support for the NDC and called on its members to go out in their numbers to vote for the party for the desired change they seek.
Mr Samson Awingobit, PNC chairman at a presser to declare their support for the NDC, said even though the PNC had no presidential candidate “we cannot be neutral in this elections.”
He expressed the hope that the move to throw their weight behind the NDC would ensure a collaboration between the PNC and NDC in the next NDC government if it eventually wins the elections.
The PNC presidential Candidate Mr Bernard Mornah, was disqualified by the Electoral Commission on technical grounds, however they field Parliamentary candidates in some 25 constituencies across the country.
