Takoradi, Dec. 31, GNA – Mr Peter Amo-Bediako, the Director of the Port of Takoradi has praised the staff and Management for their unwavering commitment and support to the well being of the Port.
He said commitment, dedication and unwavering support had seen the Port chalked remarkable successes in the year, presenting a brighter future for the Port.
Mr Amo-Bediako praised the staff at the 2024 Day of Thanksgiving on the theme; ” Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving and His Court with Praise: Psalm 100:4”.
The Director of the Port of Takoradi appreciated God for his benevolence towards their business adding that traffic moved from 7.1 metric tonnes to 9.4 metric tonnes, with some 32 percent growth in cargo volumes.
Also, the Elmina fishing Port had been handed to the Takoradi GPHA to manage.
The Port, he announced, increased its capacity to contain bigger vessels with significant improvement in Bulk cargo and container traffic.
Some 14 cruise vessels also used the Ports and thus adding to local investment.
Mr Bediako noted that for ten years now transit trade had been hit so hard and praised God for his generosity to see a 50,000-capacity vessel haul for transit.
He was grateful to national stakeholders: customs, national security, and other partners for making the transit corridor safe and viable adding, “let sustain the transit dream and make it the interest of all stakeholders to drive business growth and Sustainability”.
The Director of the Takoradi Port also spoke about the new oil and gas Terminal to augment the trade.
Mr Anthony Eshun, at the Human Resources Section of the Port spoke about the magic teamwork, unity and collaboration had done for the Port.
He said, “be reminded that we are a family that supports one another to achieve our goals “.
Reverend Father Francis Mensah of the Martyrs of Uganda Church urged the staff and management to use the period as a reflection and stock taking.
He said, “pulse and reflect and know where to Polish for proper growth and advancement “.
Some retirees who dedicated their lives to the service of the Port were duly acknowledged while prayers were said for a better business climate in 2025 and beyond.
