Takoradi, Dec. 22, GNA – The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Takoradi Area, has held its annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols to usher in the Christmas celebrations.
Held on the theme: “Unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given,” the event brought together staff, pensioners, and stakeholders from the six branches under the Takoradi Area, namely; Takoradi, Axim, Cape Coast, Assin Fosu, Tarkwa and Asikuma Breman.
Ms Gifty Turkson, the Takoradi Area Manager of SSNIT, in her welcome remarks said it was a great joy for them to gather once again for the end of year carols service which was to foster cordial relations among all stakeholders of the Trust.
Touching on the theme, she asked participants to reflect on the character of Jesus Christ and show love to others through giving during the festive season for God’s blessings.
She, thus, thanked all stakeholders of SSNIT for their tremendous support during the year, saying, “Though we have not been able to attain the heights we set for ourselves at the beginning, we still have a cause to be grateful to our maker in diverse ways.”
Ms Turkson continued: “Most of us will have a week break to be with our families, use the time to reorganise yourselves to achieve better results next year both on personal and corporate levels.”
On some of their achievements, she mentioned that SSNIT had enrolled more of those in the informal sector onto the Trust through their Self-Employed Enrolment Drive.
She said the target for the next year was for them to continue implementing sustainable policies to expand their coverage, while urging those yet to join SSNIT to register and secure their future during retirement.
The event was characterised by choir performances, carols and hymn singing, dancing and refreshments among other entertaining activities.
