Suaman (WN/R), Dec. 1, GNA – The Suaman District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Western North Region has brought together Parliamentary Candidates in the area to devise strategies to ensure peace in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
Held at Suaman, the meeting gave the opportunity for participants to dialogue and focus on electoral concerns to promote tolerance and peaceful elections in the constituency.
It also provided a platform for the candidates to share their visions and policies to the people of the constituency for informed choices.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Felix Ayisi, the Suaman District NCCE Director, said the engagement was part of the Commission’s efforts to initiate proactive measures to foster peace before, during and after the elections, ensure political stability in the constituency and also to educate voters on electoral processes.
‘’This dialogue is the first of its kind in the Suaman District, and the purpose of it is to educate voters on matters of concern, especially those in the Suaman Constituency, he said.
Mr Frederick Addy, the New Patriotic Party PC, and Mr John Asare, PC for Liberal Party of Ghana both pledged to preach peace to their followers to ensure a peaceful conduct before, during and after December 7 polls.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Juliana Forson, Suaman District Police Commander, called on the electorate to conduct themselves in a peaceful and orderly manner to ensure a violence-free election.
Mr Roland Yeboah, the District Electoral Officer, traditional and religious leaders, Civic Society Organisations, Muslim community, the media, and the public all graced the occasions.
