Ajumako (C/R), Dec 02, GNA – The special voting exercise for the 2024 general election is going on smoothly in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency at the District Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) at Ajumako.
Voting started at exactly 07:00 hours at two designated polling stations where a total of 753 special voters are expected to cast their ballots.
The voting process has been without any challenge at all, with each voter spending a maximum of five minutes to cast their ballots.
As at 09:20 hours, a total of 98 people had exercised their franchise.
Officers of the Electoral Commission picked up the ballot papers for both the presidential and parliamentary elections from the district police office at 06:00 hours and handed them over to the presiding officers of the two polling stations.
Each polling station had 385 ballot papers for the presidential and parliamentary elections.
When the voters arrive at the polling station, they are identified by their voter identification card by the presiding officers.
They are then referred to the name reference officers who confirm their names from the names reference list, after which verification officers verify them with the Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) and mark their little fingers with indelible ink.
The voters are directed to the presidential ballot issuer, pick up their ballot papers, go to the voting booth to cast their ballots.
They then move on to the parliamentary ballot issuer for their ballot papers, cast their vote and exist the polling stations.
Madam Eunice Bonsi, the District Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the BVDs were working perfectly well, adding that the process had been very smooth.
“We haven’t had any issues with the process or the political parties. Everything is fine and I am very about the process,” she said.
She said she expected a high turnout by close of polls at 17:00 hours.
