Peace remains the only tool for the country’s stability – NCCE Director

By Emmanuel Nyatsikor

Adaklu Waya (V/R), Dec. 3, GNA – Mr. Kenneth Kponor, Volta Regional Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has reminded Ghanaians that peace was key to the country’s stability.

“Let us all resolve to use it to solidify the stability, unity and democracy of our dear country,” he advised.

Mr. Kponor gave the reminder at the Adaklu Constituency Parliamentary Candidates Dialogue at Adaklu Waya, which was attended by New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Party candidates.

It was organised by the Adaklu District Inter Party Dialogue Committee in collaboration with the district’s NCCE.

Mr. Kponor urged Ghanaians to agree to live in harmony despite their ethnicity, religion, gender, or political affiliations.

He urged the youth, especially not to allow themselves to be used by political zealots for their selfish political interests.

“If you allow yourselves to be used as tools of destruction by politicians you are only destroying your future,” the Regional Director stated.

Mr. Francis Asamani, Adaklu District Director of NCCE, said the Dialogue was very important as it would afford the electorate the opportunity to interact with those who were seeking their mandate to represent them in Parliament.

He stated that it would also give all the candidates a level playing field to present their visions, plans, policies and solutions to challenges facing the electorate.

Mr. Asamani noted that according to a survey conducted by the NCCE dubbed “matters of concern by the Ghanaian voter”, the economy, agriculture, education, health and unemployment were the topmost priorities of the electorate in the district.

Mr. Bright Nyatsikor, the NPP candidate, and Mr. John Motti of the NDP, said they would work within their party’s manifestos to address the challenges facing the people.

They pledged their commitment to the peace of the constituency and urged their supporters not to do anything that would destroy the image of Adaklu.

Mr. Kwame Agbodza, the National Democratic Congress candidate, who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area could not attend due to other engagements.

Meanwhile, the IPDC and the NCCE in the district organised peace walks at Adaklu Waya.

Participants included youth groups, the security services, students, Okada riders, representatives of religious bodies, political parties and Civil Society Organizations.

Mr. Mac-Peter Dumatonu, Adaklu District Director of Education, who addressed the participants after the walk, urged them to prioritize peace during and after the elections to strengthen the country’s democracy, promote national unity and stability, development and growth.
