Tema, Dec. 26, GNA – The Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) Redemption Congregation, Tema Community Nine, on Boxing Day, held a ‘Jesus Christmas Street Party’ for less privileged children within the community.
The party, which was on the theme “Jesus Christ: Friend of Little Children,” saw the Minister-in-Charge, Rev. Francis Akey, and the Second Minister, Rev. Mrs. Rita Obeng Ansong, leading members of the Development and Social Services (DSS) Committee and presbyters interacting with children at the Tema Community Nine Market and the Light Industrial Area.
The children were presented with exercise books, pencils, sharpeners, food, water, and drinks.
Rev. Mrs. Rita Obeng Ansong, interacting with the children at the Tema Community Nine market, said the stationery is to support the children’s education, and the food was meant for them to share in the festivity.
He reminded the children that Jesus Christ was the reason for the season, noting that Christ was born to bridge the gap between humans and God.
Mr. Emmanuel Ohene Atiemo, DSS Chairperson, PCG Redemption Congregation, Tema Community Nine, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the purpose of the party was to share the word of God with children in deprived areas during the birth of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Mr. Atiemo added that it was also to provide an opportunity for the church leadership to interact with children in and around the congregation and to promote the image of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
He added that it also helps to promote the achievement of the PCG’s “Agenda 2 Million” by reaching out to children and their families living in deprived communities.
“Agenda 2 Million” is a growth agenda by the PCG to grow the church by two million by the year 2028.
