Koforidua, Dec. 28, GNA – Mr Ransford Gyan, the MTN Ghana Area Sales Manager for Eastern, Volta, and Oti regions, and his team have distributed 35 baby gift hampers to newborns across various Eastern Regional hospitals for the Christmas.

The health facilities that benefited from this initiative included the St. Joseph, Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), Koforidua Polyclinic, and the Eastern Regional Hospitals respectively.

He said the effort was not to only support new parents but to also spread joy during the festive season which was a cherished tradition by MTN Ghana annually to welcome newborns on December 25th.

This year, MTN had generously donated approximately 600 hampers to families across various hospitals in all 16 regions of the country, ensuring that these special moments were celebrated with heartfelt support.

Mr Gyan indicated that the flagship initiative was launched in 2011 and embodied the spirit of giving and caring that aimed to alleviate some burdens associated with caring for a new life.

The hampers contained baby diapers, newborn clothing, detergents, toys and other personal care items.

Mr Gyan seized the opportunity to raise awareness about mobile money fraud, particularly during the Christmas season when many individuals were engaged in various activities.

He urged the public to be vigilant and not to share their Personal Identification Number (PIN) with anyone.

Additionally, he cautioned the public against falling for scams that may trick individuals into revealing their personal information.

“If you are sensing any mobile threat, call on the MTN office line 0244300000 to address the problem,” he stressed.

Ms Richlove Kyerewaah Yeboah, a Midwifery Officer at the Lying-in Ward of the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to MTN Ghana for their generous support to the families of newborn babies.

She said the initiative would play a vital role in enhancing the health and well-being of the infants, noting that such thoughtful contributions were instrumental in ensuring a positive start for new lives.

On December 25, the Eastern Regional Hospital proudly welcomed the arrival of 10 babies made up of five girls and five boys.
