Accra, Dec 2, GNA – Madam Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, is determined to make history by wrestling the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Gender-desk, Madam Ansu who is contesting for the first time, said the NPP’s dominance in the constituency had not impacted on the development of the area and therefore needed a change.
To her, the notion that the Juaben seat belonged to the NPP had led to neglect of the constituency’s needs “because the NPP has always relied on that advantage to win and not any meaningful development and that is why they must change the way of voting.”
While expressing confidence in breaking the jinx, she made a passionate appeal to the people to vote for her come December 7, to bring progressive development and a different shade of leadership to transform their lives.
As part of her vision for the transformation of the constituency, she made mention that the Juaben enclave had vast hectares of lands and therefore would woo investors to establish industries to create job avenues for the teeming youth.
In line with the NDC’s manifesto, she promised to roll out an apprenticeship programme to equip the youth who could not pursue any further education or training with employable skills to improve the local economy.
Madam Ansu is a banker with 18 years’ experience rising to the position of a corporate relationship manager at the National Investment Bank, holds a master’s degree in marketing from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and has resigned to go into politics.
She believes her deep-rooted connection to the community, coupled with her experience in banking and governance, positions her as the best candidate to serve the people.
Her involvement in politics began at the grassroots level, where she served as a polling station executive and later as a women’s organizer for the NDC at the constituency level.
The Juaben constituency was created out of the Ejisu-Juaben constituency in 2012 and has been a safe seat of the NPP since, consistently maintaining its votes and strength in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
