MTN Ghana donates 140 hampers to Christmas babies in Korle bu Hospital

Accra, Dec. 28, GNA – The MTN Ghana as part of its social responsibilities and charity support has donated 140 hampers to mothers who delivered during the Christmas season at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. 

The hampers which consisted of baby soap, diapers, baby wipers, detergent, among others were to support mothers and newborn babies in their stay in the hospital as well as going back home. 

Speaking on behalf of the Chief Corporate Sustainability and Social Officer, Mr. Samuel Bartels, Senior Manager and Regulatory Government Affairs, MTN stated that “this year, MTN Ghana had distributed 600 hampers across 16 regions targeting health facilities including Oti region, Ashanti Region, Greater Accra and other regions.” 

He said the initiative was to showcase MTN’s collective effort to demonstrate love and to welcome newborn babies during yuletide adding that MTN had donated 3,500 hampers since 2011 and this showcased the importance of sharing in festive seasons. 

Mr Bartels urged individuals to demonstrate love by embracing the spirit of giving during this festive season saying, “this is a way of bringing joy to peoples lives.  

He expressed deepest appreciation to healthcare workers for their unwavering commitment and support, announced MTN’s upcoming blood donation in February, appealing to the public to participate to save lives.  

Mrs Victoria Djamoe, Senior Midwifery Officer, Obstetrics and Gynecology, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the kind gesture.  

She highlighted that, seven babies were born within the period of December 25 and 26 with 3 babies through Caesarean Section (CS). 

Mrs Djamoe said the donation would go a long way to help the mothers as “some were not able to provide some of the listed items that were requested from them during their delivery.
