Lagos Town (WR), Dec. 01, GNA -The members of the Mount Oliveth Society of the Methodist Church Ghana, have embarked on a peace walk to raise awareness among the populace on why Ghana’s peace must be promoted and protected.

The Peace March, which went through the principal streets of Lagos Town, Tanokrom, Anaji, and Kwesimintsim with placards such as “Unity in Diversity,” “Ghana is what we have,” “Violence Begets Violence,” “Let Your Thumb Do the Talking and Not Guns,” reminded Ghanaians also of their roles to cement the peace.

Reverend Seth Amoah, the Minister of the Mount Oliveth Society, said growing into democratic maturity as a country required that all stakeholders contributed in diverse ways to drum home the imperative need to preserve and improve upon the peaceful environment in the country.

He said: “Peace is development in itself; aside the fact that it also promoted investor confidence and allowed citizens to live in congenial atmosphere and do their daily activities.”

Reverend Amoah charged citizens to actively take part in the elections adding, “let your thumb do all the talking for you because that is your power as a citizen…no insults, fights or violence can build society but proper decision making and leadership selection.”
