Sydney, Dec 28, (dpa’/GNA) – A man fishing with his family off the north-eastern coast of Australia, has been fatally attacked by a shark.
The broadcaster ABC reported that the man had suffered serious neck injuries.
Paramedics tried in vain to save his life, and he succumbed to his wounds on Saturday evening, according to the AAP news agency.
The incident occurred off Humpy Island in Keppel Bay Islands National Park, about 18 kilometres off the coast of Queensland. It is not known what type of shark was involved.
AAP, citing a specialized database, reported that there have been at least four other shark attacks in Australian waters this year. Two women were seriously injured.
