Kwadaso (Ash), Dec. 04, GNA – Professor Kingsley Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, has asked Ghanaians, especially the youth, not to allow themselves to be used as tools to cause mayhem in the lead up to the December 7 elections.

He said they should avoid utterances that have the potential to cause violence in the elections to help safeguard the country’s democracy and maintain its long-standing peace.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Kumasi, Professor Nyarko pointed out that the upcoming election was to further demonstrate Ghana’s resilience in democratic rule.

“The upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections are to deepen and protect our democracy and ensure that we decide in the best way for our dear country Ghana.

“Let us not allow ourselves to be influenced by any politician or person in a negative way that will compromise the gains made on our democratic journey,” he noted.

Prof. Nyarko, who is also the Deputy Minister of Education in-charge of TVET, said Ghanaians needed to exercise their voting rights in a way that would inure to the benefit of their communities, societies, and the country.

“Let us all do our best to guard our democracy, let us help to protect the peace we have been enjoying all these years. We have only one country; only one Ghana. Let us protect her, and help to make her prosperous,” he noted.

He explained that politicians were not enemies, but rather friends, brothers and sisters, who debated fiercely, agree and disagree on matters of national interest.

“I would want us to understand that politicians aren’t enemies; we are friends; we are brothers and sisters. We debate fiercely; we agree and disagree on matters; we disagree to agree at times on difficult national issues through consensus building. These don’t make us enemies. We share different ideas; different perspectives all geared towards making our dear country a better place for us all. In fact, we dine together,” he explained.

The Deputy Minister pleaded with Ghanaians to vote for the New Patriotic Party presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be the next President of Ghana.

“I would plead, that you vote my presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be the next President of the Republic of Ghana; and I, Kingsley Nyarko, to continue as the MP for Kwadaso based on our respective contributions to the progress of our dear country through our noticeable works,” he said.
