Kwaebibirem (E/R), Dec. 29, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) partnered with Abibirem 93.1 FM to host a peace walk and football matches in the Kwaebibirem Municipality, fostering community unity and peace throughout the just ended 2024 general elections.

The peace walk began at Abibirem FM, moved to Adankrono, then returned to Subi, and finally concluded at Roman Park in Kade. This event has the potential to enhance personal and community relations while also addressing post-election violence.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Gertrude Defoe, the Kwaebibirem Municipal Director of NCCE, highlighted the essence of elections as a means to choose leaders who will guide the community.

She advised that this year’s election should not divide the people but instead unite them in pursuit of a common goal.

During the walk, participants held placards bearing various messages such as “We Need Peace,” “Be Wise,” “Vote Peacefully,” “Vote on December 7,” “Do Not Sell Your Vote,” “It Is Ballot, Not Bullet,” “Vote Once, Vote,” “Tolerate Each Other’s Views,” “Your Vote Is Your Power,” “We Are One People,” and “Your Vote Is Your Voice.”

The soccer games featured teams from various organizations, including Abibirem FM and NCCE as one team, along with the Ghana Fire Service, Kade Government Hospital, Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly, Ghana Commercial Bank, and Bosome Rural Bank.

The teams showcased professional skills, earning admiration from all attendees.

The final match between Kade Government Hospital and Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly was scheduled to take place after the elections to deepen existing harmony and peace.

Abibirem FM 93.1 streamed the programme live, enabling local community members to tune in and benefit from the educational content of both events.

Participants commended Abibirem FM and the NCCE for organizing the peace games. Both the Municipal Chief Executive and the parliamentary candidate from the National Democratic Congress peacefully supported the various activities by providing footballs, jerseys, and drinks.
