Kotey Ashie wins Odododiodioo parliamentary seat, rallies constituents for development

Accra, Dec 08, GNA – Mr Alfred Kotey Ashie, the newly elected Member of Parliament for the Odododiodioo Constituency, has called on the constituents to rally behind him to deliver development to the Constituency.

Mr Ashie emerged winner of Saturday’s parliamentary election in the Odododiodioo Constituency, securing 38,473 of the total valid votes cast.

He beat Abdul Mannaf Sowah, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who polled 24,877 votes.

Mr Richard Dzatei Abbey of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) also garnered 175 votes while Mr. Alfred Anettey Abbey of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) secured 193 votes.

Delivering his victory message, Mr Ashie said he would not relax on his laurels, assuring that all promises made ahead of the polls would be fulfilled.

“I want to promise the people of Odododiodioo that I will make a difference, that we should come together to give Odododiodioo the befitting development, to give our people what they want to see to make them happy.

“Like I said, there is work to be done and right from tomorrow, I’m hitting the ground running. I will do what it takes to get myself prepared,” Mr Ashie said.

He commended the constituents for ensuring a peaceful and incident-free elections.

“My first prayer is that for the first time in Odododiodioo, we should go for an election

without a single bloodshed. That has been my prayer, it has been my headache, and I did everything to ensure that, and God has answered that,” he said.

The NDC’s presidential candidate, Mr John Dramani Mahama, also emerged as the winner of the presidential polls.

He amassed 40,100 votes of the total valid votes cast, beating Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the NPP, who obtained 22,624 votes.

The rest of the presidential results for the constituency are; Mr Daniel Augustus Lartey Jnr (GCPP) – 6; Mr Christian Kwabena Andrews (GUM) – 55; Mr Kofi Akpaloo (LPG) – 10; Mr Mohammed Frimpong (NDP) – 6; Nana Akosua Frimpomaa (CPP) – 84 and Mr Hassan Abdulai Ayariga (APC) – 44.

The rest are – Kofi Koranteng (Independent) – 12; George Twum-Barimah-Adu (Independent) – 1; Nana Kwame Bediako – 348 and Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen (Independent) – 77

Total Votes Cast – 64,259
