It is sad that the Afari Military hospital is still not completed – former President Mahama

Abuakwa (Ash) Dec 03, GNA – Former President, Mr John Dramani Mahama has described the uncompleted state of the Afari Military Hospital in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, of the Ashanti region as a sad situation.

According to him, his dream when he was the President, was to complete the Afari military hospital project and commence another one in Tamale, the northern regional capital, to provide quality health care delivery to the people in the middle and northern parts of the country, but unfortunately a change of government killed that dream.

However, after eight years of NPP government, the hospital was still not completed.

Addressing hundreds of party faithful at a rally at Abuakwa, Mr Mahama pointed out that it was stressful that the project was still hanging.

He said expeditious and quality health care delivery associated with military health facilities, eased the pressure on existing government health facilities, hence his desire to have such facilities at some vantage places of the country.

Mr Mahama said the next NDC government would ensure the speedy completion of the facility to provide the needed quality healthcare services to the people of the Ashanti region.

He said the completion of various uncompleted government projects across the country would be the priority of his next government and asked the people to vote for him and the NDC to help change the current situation of the country.

Mr Mahama announced the recruitment of 25,000 youth into the security services to help implement the 24-hour economy peacefully and effectively in his first year in office.

He outlined the plans of the next NDC government on economy, health, sports employment, and other sectors.

He mentioned the introduction of women’s development bank, which would support women entrepreneurs, the construction of Astro-turfs in all districts, free admission fees for tertiary students, free tertiary education for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), abolition of certain taxes among others, policy interventions to generate income and improve the livelihoods of the people.

He pointed out that the NPP had failed in their own promises and the people were yearning for change, so the NDC needed unity alone for power.

Mr Wisdom Osei Boamah, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the area appealed to the people to make him the second NDC Parliamentarian in the area in this fourth republic on Saturday.

Nana Owusu Appau, Abuakwa-Asenemasohene, who is also the Bantama Gyaasehene, urged the people to vote for former President Mahama since God had already chosen him to rescue Ghanaians from the prevailing economic hardship in the country

“Unemployment and poverty have made husbands and all men irresponsible nowadays,” he noted.
