Incumbent NDC MP, Alhassan Ghansah retains seat

Cape Coast, Dec 08, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, and an incumbent MP for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituency, Mr  Alhassan Ghansah, has emerged victorious in Saturday’s election, retaining his seat.  

He polled 25,244 votes to beat Winifred Abaidoo-Ayen  of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who secured 22,498 votes. 

Precious Mawolorm Amevour of Ghana Union Movement got  265 votes. 

In the presidential election, Mr John Dramani Mahama of the NDC polled 25,145 votes, followed by Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP  with 20,145 votes. 

Total ballots cast in the Parliamentary election was 48,005 with total valid votes of 48,582 and 577  rejected ballots. 

There was spontaneous jubilation when Mr Ghansah was officially declared winner by the Electoral Commission, amidst the singing of Party songs and changing of slogans.
