Accra, Dec. 8, GNA – The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) incumbent Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma South, Mr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, has retained his seat for the third time with 35, 512 votes.
He beat three other candidates, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Mr Samuel Sarbah Lartey, Mr Joseph Commey, Liberal Party Ghana (LPG), and Mr James Lankwei Lamptey, an Independent Candidate, to retain the seat.
Mr Lartey garnered 12, 745 votes, Mr Lamptey got 413 while Mr Commey got 585.
Total valid votes cast was 49,254. Total rejected votes cast was 337. Total votes cast was 49591.
In the presidential election, Mr John Dramani Mahama of the NDC won with 35,051, while Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP got 13,038 votes, Alan Kojo Kyemateng, Independent, got 100 and Nana Kwame Bediako,also independent, got 363 votes.
