Dormaa-Ahenkro, (Bono), Dec. 27, GNA – The celebration of the annual Munufie Festival of the chiefs and people of the Dormaa Traditional Area in the Bono Region commenced on Friday.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life, including Dormaa-Ahenkro natives, home and abroad, had arrived in Dormaa-Ahenkro to observe the event celebrated a week after the celebration of the Kwafie Festival of the ‘Dormaas’.
Checks by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed that the annual Munifie Festival is commemorated to remember the founding fathers of the Dormaa state, placing a premium on the roles of the queen-mothers in the area.
As at the time of filing this report, hundreds of exciting and anxious celebrants had arrived in the township to mark the colourful ceremony to be presided by Odeneho Akosua Fema Dwabeng Ababio II, Paramount Queen Mother of Dormaa Traditional Area
Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyemang Badu II, the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area and other prominent chiefs across the length and breadth of the country have also arrived to celebrate the occasion.
