Hatsukope (VR), Dec 08, GNA – Wild jubilation erupted at Ketu South Constituency Collation Centre following the concession of defeat by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party in the just-ended Presidential election.

In a short address on Sunday, Vice President Bawumia conceded defeat to the National Democratic Congress’ Flagbearer and former President John Dramani Mahama.

The people, mainly NDC supporters who had gathered at Saint Paul’s Senior High School, venue for this year’s collation of results for the constituency, wildly jubilated the Vice President’s concession.

The NDC supporters cheered and chanted slogans and sang party songs, electrifying the atmosphere which was earlier solemn.

One of them, Madam Rosemary Avorgbedor excitedly said her day was made by that singular act from Dr Bawumia.

“Truly, I’m very happy for the comeback of Mr Mahama. I want to first of all, thank the Vice President for the concession because it will save us a lot of stress.”

Mr Edem Zigah, a party agent of the NDC, said though he was happy Dr Bawumia conceded defeat even before a formal declaration from the electoral body, he was not surprised about the development.

“The signs were glaring from the beginning that the NDC was winning the December 7 elections. Things are hard for every Ghanaian and Mr Mahama and the NDC are the only hope to rebuilding Ghana.”

“What we’re seeing and hearing is a testament to the passion and dedication of Ghanaian voters. As we look to the future, one thing is clear and that is, the people of Ghana have spoken, and their voices have been heard,” another said.
