Accra, Dec. 4, GNA – The National Elections Security Taskforce (NESTF) has met the leadership of private security agencies to address security arrangements for the upcoming General Elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
The meeting, which took place at the Police Headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, focused on ensuring that the operations of private security firms align with the overall security framework established by NESTF.
The goal was to ensure a coordinated approach that would not undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Chairman of the NESTF, assured private security providers of the full support of the police and emphasized the importance of adhering to established protocols.
“As a security agency, we will be working together with our counterparts in the private sector to ensure peaceful and transparent elections,” he stated.
Dr. Dampare further extended reassurances to the electorate, political candidates, party agents, and Electoral Commission officials, pledging that adequate security measures would be in place to guarantee a peaceful electoral environment.
Mr. Ibrahim Abdul-Rahma Usunaba, Chairman and CEO of MACE Security, thanked the IGP for the collaboration and reiterated their commitment to following the directives of the Taskforce.
“We thank the IGP for this opportunity, and we will operate within the framework of the Police Service Act.
“We are educating our personnel on the electioneering processes and urging them to remain professional throughout their duties,” he said.
Usunaba also assured the public that private security personnel would adhere to the guidelines set by the NESTF and the police administration to ensure a smooth and secure election process.
