Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – Chorkor, Korle Gonno and Mamprobi in the Ablekukuma South Constituency recorded low voter turnouts in the 2024 General Election.
Almost all polling stations visited in the communities had no queues, with presiding officers saying the exercise had been slow.
At the Blessed Assurance Preparatory School, Chorkor, polling stations 1A, 2, 3, 4, 5A and 5B where almost 3,337 voters were expected to vote, only 1,615 voted as at 1445 hours.
Presiding Officer for Polling Station 1 said because it was Saturday, most women had gone to the market.
At the Ghana Muslim Mission polling station, out of the 381 voters expected to vote, only 165 had voted as at 1450 hours.
The Presiding Officer, Mr William Bart-Plange, said voting had been slow and smooth, however, they were expecting to get about 85 per cent of voters before the close of polls.
Also, at the Hampsterd Preparatory School and Dr. F.V Nanka Bruce JHS polling stations all in Korle Gonno, the story was the same.
Mr Samuel S.K Adzokatsey, Presiding Officer, Hampsterd, said some 229 people voted out of the total of 419, as at 1500 hours.
