Yamfo, (Ahafo), Dec. 16, GNA – Dr Mohammed M. Ibrahim, the Director of the College of Health Yamfo, (CoHY) in the Ahafo Region has advocated substantial investments into infrastructure, training programmes and policy implementation to protect data privacy, as Artificial Intelligence (AI) advances in the country.
He said users also ought to be empowered enough to uphold ethical standards in the use of AI tools. Dr Ibrahim made the call when speaking at the matriculation ceremony for some fresh students at the college for the 2024/2025 academic year at Yamfo in the Tano North Municipality of the region.
It was on the theme “encouraging and integrating AI in health education and delivery” and a total of 1,286 fresh students were admitted pursuing various Bachelor of Science programmes at the college.
Dr Ibrahim urged educators, students, policymakers, and healthcare professionals to embrace AI and support its integration into academic curricula and practice.
“That will bring up a new generation of health workers that will not only be proficient in clinical skills, but also in utilizing AI technology to enhance work output and foster a culture that harmonizes technology with the human touch, essential to healthcare,” he stated.
Dr Ibrahim said AI was no longer a distant concept but a present reality that, if properly utilised, could significantly enhance both healthcare delivery, and the educational processes.
“AI-powered tele-health platforms enable healthcare providers to expand their reach, delivering quality care to remote areas and overcoming geographical barriers,” he stated, saying that integration into health would prepare future health workers to collaborate with technology, utilise data for evidence-based decision-making and improve patient care through innovations.
He urged the fresh students to remain curious, sought innovative solutions, and collaborated to build a healthcare system that combined human compassion with technological advancements.
