Christians urged to make reconciliation prime at Christmas

Bolgatanga, Dec. 25, GNA – Reverend Father Camillus Baba Ababagre, Parish Priest at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Bolgatanga has admonished Christians to make reconciliation primary ethical drive as they celebrate the memorial birth of Christ.

“We need reconciliation so badly in our family, church and workplaces” the Priest said while preaching the Sermon on Christmas day.

He said the celebration of the birth of Christ is to forgive, reconcile and make merry for renewal of life, and bemoaned the hypocrisy in Christians who claim to love Christ, yet hold strong hatred for their brothers and sisters over unnecessary fracas. “Some people cannot see eye to eye with one another and yet eat and drink the body of Christ from the same cup” He added.

The Parish Priest said “Our abilities to be separated from misunderstanding should not last and should not break the human in us, but grant us the power to reconcile through forgiveness”

Rev Ababagre urged Christians not to make forgiveness a deep-seated pain in the heart, and said “We must learn to forgive our brother by accepting to follow the instructions from Jesus not to let deep seated anger remain in our hearts”

He said Jesus went through pain and sorrow during his encounter with people who had diverse mindset and bad intentions against him, adding “people under stress from trouble need our attention, our forgiveness and our reconciliation”

Rev Ababagre cautioned members of the congregation against excessive celebration during the yuletide and said “Let’s know how to enjoy ourselves with limitations. Our families need us, our friends need us, our communities need us”

He added, “Don’t go over, drink, sleep in gutters and say next day Christmas was good.” Christmas cannot be good in gutters”
