Bantama special voters happy with smooth voting process

Kumasi, Dec. 02, GNA – Voters in the ongoing special voting exercise at the Bantama constituency, have expressed great satisfaction in the voting processes, describing it as “smooth and speedy”.

The voters, mostly security officers, journalists, and EC officials who would perform special duties on the election day, said the process had been smooth, free, fair and transparent at all levels.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, during a visit to the polling station at the Bantama Ebenezer Methodist Church, Mr. Bright Frimpong, a security person, noted that, the process was smooth and fair, with no issues with the register and the machines for identity verification.

“We, the security officers, like peace, so we vote and leave home to prepare for our duties,” he said in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.

Ms. Sarah Darko, also a security officer, said there were no delays in the voting process as the election officials carried out their work swiftly.

Mr Festus O. Amankwah, the Bantama District Electoral Officer told the GNA that out of the 603 people expected to cast their votes, 346 persons, including 187 males, had voted as of mid-day on Monday.

He indicated that the 297 voters left were expected to visit the polling station to cast their votes before the voting exercise ended at 1700hours.

Mr. Amankwah said there were five electoral officials, four party agents, consisting of two representatives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and security people.

Mr. Simeon Addai Dapaah, NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Bantama, who visited the polling station to observe things, said Ghanaians were crying for the former President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, to come back to power.

He said he was convinced that the citizens would vote in favour of the former president based on the current economic crisis the country was faced with.

Mr. Dapaah applauded the special voters for ensuring a peaceful voting by exercising their franchises peacefully and leaving for their destinations.

Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate has not been sighted yet at the polling station.
