Asantehene advises Zongo chiefs to provide impartial leadership in communities

Kumasi, Dec. 04, GNA – The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has asked Zongo and tribal chiefs in the Ashanti Region to offer selfless leadership and serve the people in their various communities fairly.

He said they should be truthful in all their dealings and resolve disputes in transparent and fair manner to all people who came before them.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, gave the advice when the Council of Zongo Chiefs, led by its President, Naaba Musah Akambonga II, paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia palace to formerly introduce some newly installed tribal chiefs in the region, to him.

They were Alhaji Abubakar Umar, the leader of Walla; Mohammed Lamborn, the leader of Bimooba; Alhaji Mohammed Saani, the leader of Challah.

The rest were Naa Abdulai Yakubu Noubi I, the leader of Birifor Lobi; Nana Akwasi Issah, the leader of Chokosi; Alhaji Mahmud Abdulai, the leader of Alijo; and Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, the leader of Tamasha/Buzu.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed the believe that those presented to him were legitimate tribal leaders in the region and cautioned the Council of Zongo chiefs against appointing rival tribal chiefs with same title as those introduced to him.

The Asantehene emphasized the need for the people in Zongo communities to co-exist peacefully with other groups in their communities as peace was essential for the development of their communities.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu, bestowed his blessings upon them and urged them to coexist peacefully and provide quality leadership for their people.

Naaba Musah Akambonga II, advised the new chiefs to adhere to the traditional protocols of the council and spearhead development initiatives in their respective jurisdictions.

Some of the leaders expressed gratitude to Otumfuo for the warm reception and pledged to abide by the traditional customs of the Asante Kingdom.
