Akatsi South NPP PC expresses gratitude after defeat

Akatsi (VR), Dec. 10, GNA – Mr Mawuli Ocloo Egos, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Akatsi South in the just-ended 2024 elections has expressed appreciation for a peaceful electoral exercise.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Chiefs, Elders, Clergymen and Women, Businessmen / Women, the youth and the good people of Avenor for your support through your vote and counsel before, during, and after the 2024 general elections.”

Mr Ocloo made the remarks in a statement on Monday after conceding defeat to Lawyer Benard Ahiafor, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Akatsi South who was given a massive endorsement.

“Your love shown me was overwhelming, especially with the total votes of 3,399 being the highest for a first-time Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of NPP in Akatsi South Constituency since 1996,” he stated.

The results, however, saw Mr Ahiafor winning by a wide margin of 30,268 votes whilst the third candidate, Mr Donald Brown Dzameshie, polled only 461 votes.

Mr Ocloo further congratulated Mr Ahiafor on his retention as MP for the Akatsi South.

“As you are sworn in as the fourth-term Member of Parliament in the days to come, I pledged my unwavering support to you in making Akatsi South a better place for the good people of Avenor,” he added.

He also expressed appreciation to officials of the Electoral Commission in Akatsi South for conducting a very peaceful and transparent constitutional exercise.

“Finally, l remain so grateful to the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party for their unwavering support and dedication to this cause. God bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong.”
