AFA names outstanding performers for 2024

Accra, Dec 31, GNA – The Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) has named its outstanding pullers and officials for the year 2024.   

In the seven award categories, Ghana received three awards for best female puller, best young puller, and best referee for the year under review.   

Egypt also got three honours for best male puller, best coach, and best national team while Benin was honoured with the fastest growing member federation in AFA.   

Mr Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa, in an interview with GNA Sports explained that the initiative was to motivate the pullers and officials to give out their best to be recognised,   

He said the winners would be decorated at the next Africa Championship at a yet to be named country.   

He urged athletes and officials to work together for the promotion and development of the sport as the AFA Board pushes for more competitions and participation in major continental championships.   

Below is the full list of award winners;   

Best Male Puller – Omar Ibrahim (Egypt)  

Best Female Puller – Grace Minta (Ghana)  

Best Young Puller – Blessed Abeka Nunoo (Ghana)  

Best National Team – Egypt   

Best Coach – Tariq (Egypt)  

Best Referee – Nii Otoo Larkyne (Ghana)  

 Fastest Growing Member Federation – Benin
