Keta (VR), Dec 25, GNA – The Ada Beach Soccer Arena, in the Greater Accra Region will host the final match in the 2024 season of the Beach Soccer Premier League.
Havedzi Mighty Warriors from the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region would lock horns with Accra based Layoca Beach soccer club in what is described by many sports enthusiasts as cagey encounter of the finals.
Havedzi Mighty Warriors, the giants of Volta qualified to the finals of the premiere league after emerging winners of the zone, beating Ada Assurance, the defending champions and Keta Sunset BSC, the most successful soccer club in Ghana.
Layoca also defeated clubs, which include 2023 finalist, Cheetah BSC, Nungua BSC and others to emerge as the champions of zone one of the Beach Soccer Premier league.
Mr Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Chairperson, Ghana Football Association Beach Soccer Committee, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that Sunday, December 29, has been set for the much-anticipated finals.
“Last year Keta Emancipation Beach Soccer arena hosted the finals between Cheetah BSC and Ada Assurance BSC, and this year as usual, we don’t want a venue, which may favour any club and we decided on Ada Beach Soccer arena,” he said.
He lamented about the inadequate fund and other essential logistics from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sport which led to the delay of the final after the zonal leagues ended in October this year.
He said the association was contemplating and waiting for the GFA and the sports Ministry to approve for the third-place play-off matches between Vodza Iron breakers of zone two and Cheetah BSC of zone one to have fair ranking of the teams in the league.
“We hope the two club will be at the top of their games to give their supporters a good show, and l believed the next government will prioritise beach soccer and provide the maximum support to the sports.”
Meanwhile, Mr Innocent Ku-Mensah, Havedzi Mighty Warriors Player Coach, told the GNA that the team was poised to win the 2024 Beach Soccer Premiere League trophy as part of their Christmas celebration.
He said players were ready and have been working hard towards the finals which would be contested in remarkably high spirits.
Mr Nii Bonney, head coach of the Layoca BSC, indicated to GNA that his team was fully prepared for the finals.
The game was scheduled to start at 1500hours.
